Studio 2 - | ‘Usability-in-itself’ and
‘usability-in-life’
1)
To test the bus information system in a lab , the test user could
test how well the user can read the information
for example if the text size is visible or if the colours used are not
contrasting and are visible.
Can user get the relevant information from the bus to do this, ask
the users to read the system and say how many minutes they have to wait for
their bus to arrive, this will determine if the user can get basic information
from the system, recording the time in which the user can do this will be
useful to see how quickly this is done. However the result will vary as some
people will read the information faster , factors that could affect this is the
current eyesight of the person or maybe if the person is multitasking at the
time. Recording the body gestures and
facial expression of the user will help test if it is usable in its self as if
the person has a negative expression on their face , this will show difficulty
in use.
2)
To find out if the system is usable in life a questionnaire may be
used however if depends on how to record the information for example would
the questionnaire be score based on a range of 1-5 , or text based score or comment based for
example answer to be chosen from , satisfactory , very good ,good , or very bad . the questionnaire will help to find user satisfaction with the bus information system.
questions I would ask are :
how do you rate the use of the bus system?
1. very good , 2.Good , 3.Satisfactory , 4.Bad , 5.Very bad
has the system ever gave misleading time information?
